Is changing conveyancer possible part way through a property transaction?

Changing conveyancer is possible part way through a property transaction and sometimes it’s the right decision as illustrated by the case study below.

Bretherton Law’s Residential Property team was contacted by a local couple who had been trying to sell their home through another firm of solicitors for several months. The couple were frustrated that the process was taking so long. There were no legal issues concerning their property, with the delays due simply to the poor performance and lack of urgency shown by the original solicitors. Our conveyancing team was then asked to take the matter over.  We explained that we would have to start the process from scratch as we could not rely on any work carried out by the previous solicitors.  The clients understood and agreed.  They instructed Bretherton Law on 14th September, and we were able to put together a complete pack of documents and information which was sent to the buyer’s solicitor the next day. We were then able to exchange Contracts on 22nd September, barely one week later.

Our conveyancing case studies highlight the need for all parties in a property transaction to be vigilant. Putting your affairs in the hands of professional and experienced conveyancing solicitors will go a long way in avoiding delays and costly mistakes.
